The BBC is at the centre of two programmes which help to identify the
- skill required,
- dedication and commitment,
- communication necessary
The apprentice 2010/2011
The current series (2011) may look like it is the same as before, but the significant difference is that Lord Sugar will be investing in a new business and the winner of this comnpetition becomes his business partner, not an employee...
Last series (in 2010), the final sixteen entertained us during the tasks staged and despite Lord Sugar being cast as "the beligerent boss", there is a blend of entertainment value and serious assessment during the so called "board room" battle of the various personalities engaged in this competition. In our opinion Stella English was a worthy winner, because her experience and commitment were clear for the seasoned observers of this programme.
The Dragon's Den
A kaleidoscope of budding entrepreneurs is paraded in front of a group of experienced business moguls, who have made it to the top. Most of us are unlikely to reach the dizzy heights without submitting to growing pains and seeing our skills and character traits tested to the hilt. What is the point?
Running a business is not for the faint hearted, nor will it ever be a "start at 9am, finish at 5pm" job assignment. We have to cater for:- multi tasking
- singleminded dedication to our business
- willingness and sensitivity to changes in our customers' buying habits
- make sure their is enough profit to pay our bills
- maintain the lifestyle that suits us and does not neglect our friends, family or personal leisure time
